Shout out to Nina Simone who provided the soundtrack to my latest production. Thanks to the support Colored People’s Theatre received from the DC community in the summer, we were granted an opportunity to remount the show with Forum Theatre and Round House Theatre.
For this production of for colored girls…, we played the idea of collecting stories, experiences and gifts to pass down to future generations (Check out the review here!).Our Lady in Brown, at 7 months pregnant, was the perfect muse for our story. We set this go round at a baby shower and I was so pleased with the outcome.
This cast really worked their butts off to pull this one out. I am eternally grateful for their work and their belief in me. I’ve been so encouraged by these productions. I thank God for blessing me to work in the field I love and to do the things I enjoy!
